Wild Week- Day 4

Thursday Papa Wes stayed home to help provide a special day of activities and memories. The breakfast order was pancakes, so Papa Wes made banana pancakes shaped like Mickey Mouse. I haven't figured out yet how to get these pictures in the order I want, so bear with me!

Morgan and Emma on the hike to the woods after Papa Wes had mowed some pathways through the brush.

Morgan and Emma decided they wanted a picnic lunch at the 'fort', so Papa Wes loaded up what I had prepared, and off they went, and in style!

Back to breakfast, this is Morgan's decorated pancake.

Saying grace over the breakfast on the porch. GG's heart is full!

This is Emma's rendition of the bear claw.

Papa Wes is in hawg heaven!

And Baby V enjoyed hers too.

After the hike and picnic lunch, followed by a good nap time, Papa Wes started the process of fulfilling a life-long dream; making homemade peach ice cream for his grandkids to eat on his porch.

Morgan and Emma wanted to watch, but soon wearied of the long process.

The unexpected bonus is that it was made with peaches from our own trees.

A request had been made for hot dogs over a fire, so we made it happen!

 They ate it all.

And of course you can't have a fire and coat hangers and not have S'mores! Right?

 Viola loved her S'more.

I did say life-long dream right? Here is the photographic evidence of the dream come true.

Papa Wes says, 'You ask why is my porch like heaven?'

Wild Week- Day 3

Morgan's eye scratch on Tuesday turned out to be somewhat of an ordeal, but thankfully after a night of the patch, he woke up feeling pretty good, and was able to enjoy 'normal' activities on Wednesday. We started out with Papa Wes's two-egger omelettes all around.

Our wonderful neighbors Kelly and Annette Robinson regularly show up with an Easter-egg variety of free range eggs. Please notice the large one in the middle, that's turkey! These eggs make for omelettes that have gobs of protein.

Poor Morgy on Tuesday night, after Papa Wes had stopped by Walmart and picked him up a pirate's patch.

We love the Leander Robin Bledsoe water park. The kids have a blast.

 Morgan under the water canopy.

Viola was not too sure, so she hung with me for a while.

Morgan and Emma are pretty much uninhibited at this place.

 Uh huh, yeah, oh yeah!

Viola deep in thought. I coaxed her to a safe spot.

So Viola got into it too.

I sent a message to Papa Wes; 'Micky D's is a wonderful place.'

Water parks make for great nap times, and then painting plaster Christmas ornaments on the porch.

While Viola created sidewalk art with the big chalk.

Papa Wes had moved the play house into the yard, so Viola had fun with the slide.

 Welcome to Viola's kitchen.

Emma seems to enjoy that ridge-sitting thing; wasn't that a fad some decades ago? The day's activities made for sleepy heads dreaming of big events coming on Thursday.

Wild Week- Day 2

Day 2 got an earlier start, with Papa Wes handling breakfast duty and enjoying some coffee on the porch before the kids got up.

Papa Wes's waffles with fresh fruit on the porch, just doesn't get any better than this (but we'll see if we can best it!)

Today we tried story time at the Cedar Park Public Library. It's craft time.

I assure you she was having fun!

Morgan, Emma and Viola pose in front of the library.

Then on for lunch at Papa Wes's office, and a tour. Here they are admiring a 12-block model of the Hyde Park neighborhood. Oh yeah, Morgan got a Viola finger in the eye.

Climbing to the loft, past their famous collection of Rudy's cups.

Then the kids get to see Papa Wes's secret of bird pictures. The office deck is in the tree tops, so the birds have their guard down!

After a trip to the eye doctor and some help for Morgan's injury, we are back at the house for pizza on the porch. Then Emma wants to help Papa Wes dig out his new patio for the fire pit. We can say the kids went to bed tired tonight!

Wild Week- Day 1

We made a run to Midland Saturday to celebrate Emma's 5th birthday. We were too late for the party at the park, but not too late for some Mr. Gatti's. Then Sunday we brought the kids home to Liberty Hill for our traditional wild week.

Mom Ashleigh and Emma Ireline pose for a birthday portrait.

The whole shebang enjoying some birthday pizza time.

The long run from Midland meant for a late night and sleepy heads in the morning, but not too sleepy to make it to the Leander Public Library for story time!

Emma will make a fine equestrian, as soon as Dad buys her a real horse!

Morgan recognized the quote on the poster as being C.S. Lewis. Ahem, not bragging or anything.

Viola is more comfortable on Scooby Doo.

Emma's reading skills have taken a big leap recently, and she is really enjoying her reading.

Story telling time is a blast for the kids.

Viola gets into her art work.

Emma and Viola training for their future college school colors; rather burnt in nature.

After having GG's special grilled chicken and pasta salad on the porch, the kids and Papa Wes pose for a pic on the driveway.
