Christmas 2013

We were so blessed to be with so much of our families over the holidays, and it has taken a while to recover enough to get this post done! I hope the joy and blessings of the season show through this photo journal. Blessings.

The Idaho spuds back in Texas and being treated to a Papa Wes breakfast!

We couldn't stand not to be there when the Matt Griffins flew in, so we greeted them at the luggage area.

Matt and Ash had the rent car, so Wes and I took the kids. You know, they don't have Sonics in Idaho!

New day, new family. We celebrated some Christmas by taking Mercedes and Evangeline to be with some Matthews/Carpenters/Burks in Waco. Here they are playing with the traditional noise-making toys that your favorite Uncle Jimmy happily supplies. I guess Aggie should bear some of that blame as well!

Beautiful Christmas tree at cousin David and Mary Carpenter's house in Waco.

 Me and my beautiful grands!

We had a great group, and were so blessed to spend some Christmasing with my side of the family.

Aunt Aggie showed us her tech savvy by taking this picture with her phone. Way to go Aggie!

It was wonderful to share some Christmas with our foster son Matt Parker and his fiance Heather Bonnett.

Merry Christmas all year long, yall!

The Arizona contingent came in for a Christmas visit, so we got to be introduced to Paesano's in San Antonio. It was great to be with my brother Jimmy, his wife Aggie, my sis-in-law Ginger Maher, niece Jill Matthews, and her beau Cameron McKay from Tucson.

Finally we get to the Roadrunner's Roost where the Griffin clan is gathering. Here is Mawmaw Sylvia with her hatchlings, Wes, David, Tim, and Becky.

Music always flowed at the Griffins, and Tim was probably the most musical of all. He led us in a 'name the tune' game of hymns, and it turned into choir practice!

Some of Mawmaw's greats hangin' out in the persimmon tree at the back door.

Bridgette made this beautiful quilt for Sylvia.

She loves her quilt, but loves those greats like nobody's business. 11 of the 13, and one on the way.

Matriarch Sylvia and almost the whole fam damily!

Mawmaw Sylvia and the originals.

And the spouses, Bridgette Griffin, Jan Griffin, and Tommy Adams.

And the grands and spouses, with a few missing.

Lovin' havin' our Idaho spuds in Texas for a Christmas visit.

Beautiful lace shawl a present from Matthew and Ashleigh.

Our grands and their antique dolls from Aunt Kate.

Yes, I am proud of the apron project I undertook for my grands. And there is a matching denim bib for Kate's Peanut coming in April.

And yes, I am proud of my grands!

That was a good day of feasting and present exchanging, marred only slightly by the hacking and coughing of the season!

We finished off with a run to Fredericksburg to enjoy some Christmasing there.

Jimmy and Aggie drove up from SA to join us for some fellowship.

I guess if you light those candles, the heat makes it go 'round! The grands enjoyed the day.

Matt and Papa Wes got to play in the park while us girls shopped!

Before we could let the spuds head back to Idaho, we had to light a fire in the pit and do some wieners and S'mores. Christmas 2013 will not soon be forgotten!
